Dr Karmen Wong

Dr. Karmen Wong is a medical oncologist with over 30 years of clinical experience. She received her oncology training at the National University Hospital (NUH), the National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCC), and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) through an HMDP scholarship.

A pioneer in her field, Dr. Wong helped establish Singapore’s first multi-disciplinary breast cancer treatment program at NCC two decades ago, creating a collaborative approach to cancer care. She also initiated the bone marrow transplant program for solid tumors at Singapore General Hospital (SGH) in 1997. Her contributions to oncology earned her an award for oral presentation at SGH’s 9th Annual Scientific Meeting in 1988.

Dr. Wong is actively involved in cancer research as a co-investigator in numerous clinical trials focusing on new cancer treatments. Notably, she participated in the CompLEEment-1 trial study, with findings presented at major conferences like ASCO 2019 and ESMO 2018. Her dedication to advancing cancer treatment extends to fostering a strong cancer support network for her patients.

In 1999, she presented the first Asian study on patients’ attitudes toward breast cancer treatment at the Annual Meeting of the American Society of Clinical Oncology. She has also published numerous peer-reviewed articles, authored textbook chapters, and frequently delivers lectures across ASEAN on the latest advancements in cancer care.

Dr. Wong welcomes referrals for all cancer types, with a particular interest in breast, gastrointestinal, and gynecological cancers.
