Dr Leonard Ang

Dr. Leonard Ang is a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist at Lang Eye Centre with over 25 years of experience and is renowned for his expertise in treating complex eye disorders. His specialties include cataract surgery, cornea and glaucoma treatment, refractive surgery (e.g., LASIK, Epi-LASIK), and cornea transplantation. He previously held academic and leadership roles at institutions like the Singapore National Eye Centre and National University of Singapore.
Dr. Ang trained internationally, including at Harvard Medical School and top eye centres in Japan and the U.S., under globally recognized experts. He pioneered advanced procedures in corneal and stem cell transplantation, including the use of bioengineered oral stem cells and Boston keratoprosthesis (artificial cornea) in Singapore and Southeast Asia, especially for complex and pediatric cases.
He has authored over 90 scientific publications, received 32 awards—including the Singapore National Academy of Science Young Scientist Award—and is recognized as a leader in ophthalmic innovation and research.

Dr Annabel Chew

MBBS (S’pore), MMed (Ophthalmology), FRCSEd (Ophthalmology), FAMS (Ophthalmology) Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist

Dr. Annabel Chew is a Senior Consultant Ophthalmologist at Lang Eye Centre, with sub-specialization in glaucoma and expertise in cataract surgery and general ophthalmology. She was formerly a Senior Consultant at the Singapore National Eye Centre (SNEC) and continues as a Visiting Consultant. A graduate of NUS Medicine, she holds multiple fellowships and completed advanced glaucoma training at SNEC.
Her clinical interests include glaucoma laser treatments, various glaucoma surgeries, and advanced cataract procedures. She played a key role in developing SNEC’s Glaucoma Observation Clinic and community eye services.
Academically, she has held teaching roles at Duke-NUS and NUS, contributed to ophthalmic research, published in medical journals, and won several awards for her work and presentations. Recognized for patient care excellence, she received multiple Singapore Health Quality Service Awards from 2019 to 2024.
Dr. Chew also advocates for women’s health as a former Vice President of the Association of Women Doctors Singapore and co-author of a health book for women. Outside of work, she enjoys family life and travel.
