He completed his medical training at the National University of Singapore (NUS) and earned the College of Surgeons Gold Medal for his excellence in advanced specialty training. He furthered his expertise through fellowships in Germany and the USA under renowned specialists.

He was a founding member of the Foot and Ankle Division at the National University Hospital (NUH) and served as Program Director for its fellowship training program.
