Dr. Loh Yee Jim

Dr. Loh is a distinguished Cardiothoracic Surgeon with extensive experience in both pediatric and adult cardiac surgery. He completed his medical training in 2000 and became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, Edinburgh, in 2009. He further honed his expertise through a prestigious fellowship at Boston Children’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School, where he was appointed Chief Resident in 2012 — a rare achievement for an overseas fellow.

Upon returning to Singapore, Dr. Loh joined KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) and also served as a visiting consultant at the National Heart Centre. He specializes in pediatric heart surgery and minimally invasive procedures, including video-assisted thoracoscopic (VATS) closure of atrial septal defects. He also has significant experience in aortic valve-sparing root replacement surgeries.

Dr. Loh has held numerous leadership roles, including Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at KKH, Surgical Director of the National Pediatric ECMO Program, and Co-director of the National Pediatric Heart Transplant and Ventricular Assist Device Program. He also served as the Medical Director of the National Cardiovascular Homograft Bank.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Loh is dedicated to teaching and mentoring, holding academic appointments at Duke-NUS Medical School and Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. He has contributed to medical research, published in renowned journals, and frequently speaks at international conferences. His ongoing involvement in residency training and advisory committees reflects his commitment to advancing the field of cardiothoracic surgery in Singapore.
