The Dermatology Clinic

Dr. Uma Alagappan is a MOH-accredited consultant dermatologist with over 15 years of experience, specializing in pediatric dermatology, women’s dermatology, and general dermatology. Her areas of interest include chronic eczema, food allergies, and immunodermatology. She is also experienced in laser treatments for both pediatric and adult patients.

Dr. Uma completed her dermatology training at Changi General Hospital and the National Skin Centre in 2015, followed by a subspecialty in pediatric dermatology at KK Women’s and Children’s Hospital (KKH) in 2017. In 2019, she received the Ministry of Health Manpower Development Plan Award to train in pediatric immunodermatology and allergo-dermatology at Boston Children’s Hospital in the USA. Upon returning, she established clinics at KKH focused on food allergy eczema, immunodermatology, and multidisciplinary psychological support for pediatric eczema patients.

In addition to her pediatric expertise, Dr. Uma is experienced in women’s dermatology, treating conditions such as pregnancy-related dermatoses, pigmentation, post-menopausal skin concerns, and hair loss. At Singapore General Hospital, she is part of the chronic eczema team, utilizing the latest biologic therapies.

A passionate educator and advocate, Dr. Uma has organized and participated in numerous dermatology conferences and public talks. She frequently contributes to media discussions on skin health and mentors medical students and international clinical fellows. She serves on the executive committee of the Dermatological Society of Singapore, contributing to the Topical Steroid Withdrawal/Addiction workgroup, and is a member of the Asian Pediatric Dermatology Society and the Allergy and Clinical Immunology Society of Singapore. Dr. Uma is currently a visiting consultant at KKH and Singapore General Hospital’s Dermatology Department.
