Dr. Widjaja Luman

MB ChB from the University of Manchester

Dr. Widjaja Luman earned his Bachelor of Science from the University of St Andrews in 1985 and his MB ChB from the University of Manchester in 1988. Following his graduation, he completed his internal medicine residency at teaching hospitals in Manchester and became a Member of the Royal College of Physicians (UK) in 1991.

From 1991 to 1997, Dr. Widjaja underwent registrar training in gastroenterology in Edinburgh, Scotland, where he gained extensive experience in managing gastrointestinal and liver diseases. His training included both diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy.

In 1997, he joined Singapore General Hospital as an Associate Consultant Gastroenterologist and was later promoted to Senior Consultant in 2003. Additionally, he served as the Director of the Nutrition Support Team, providing specialized care for patients requiring percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) and home parenteral nutrition.

Dr. Widjaja has made significant contributions to the field of gastroenterology, with over thirty original research papers published on topics including biliary diseases, Helicobacter pylori infection, and nutrition.
